History of People with Disabilities SUMMARY: In this lesson students in grades 6-8 will read the text Freak the Mighty and then watch the KnowlegeStream video clips from Barbara Floyd, "From Institutions to Independence: A Brief History of People with Disabilities in Northwest Ohio" and choose a disability to research and share with the class. As an extension for this lesson students will construct a timeline using dates and information found in their research on disabilities to create a classroom timeline to display.
